wood and trees.

Well, didn't want to overdo it on the last post... so again posting some of our latest projects.

Okay lets start with wood...
So, when we were building our house, my husband thought I was crazy because I wanted to save all of our pallets to make things with. Well, lets just say he gets it now :)

Remember our coffee table we made? We used pallet wood under the glass. That was project #1. So then, we thought... we could totally make a bed for our empty guest bedroom with these pallets... so we did.
1st "pallet project"

He is pretty awesome... put this thing together like it was nothing. :)

Pallet Bed all finished!

We found a really good deal on a futon mattress from overstock.com
highly recommend it. and it shipped for free!

So we had the bed... but it was missing a headboard...
And as you know, we don't really do anything traditional...
so we came up with a fun idea to put behind the bed.
I got to working on it right away... made some frames...

Then I had a bunch of different types of fabric that I bought at the Seaside Yard Sale.

and here it is!

I love it! Any thoughts??

So then... I wasn't really crazy about the decorations that I had on the wall where the stairs were.
It needed something different... so Hey! Why not use pallets to make some pictures frames??

My dear husband helped me rip the pallet wood in half and make frames out of it.

I found some invisible frames at Michaels and they look sooo good with the pallet frames.
Really made a difference on this wall.

Now lets move on to landscaping... We have been wanting to plant some more trees along our property lines just to add a little more privacy and to spruce things up a little bit. We are so thankful to have a good friend that is able to help us out tremendously! Thanks, Pete!

Lots of trees ready to be in the ground :)

the corner looks so great with these "Little Gem Magnolias"

Then we planted two Magnolia trees in the backyard. they are huge!

We planted another one on the other side of the backyard. Look how big! I was blown away!

And then on the other side of the property we did another line of
Little Gem Magnolias mixed in with Camellia's.
So excited to have lots of white blooms :)

And while the boys were hard at work planting trees...
I put in a secret brick path behind the garage with some of our leftover bricks.

Let us know what you think! Next post will be Christmas Decor! So very excited about that :)
Thankful for this Holiday Season. And mostly thankful for the reason for this season.
