For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. -1 Corinthians 3:11

2 months later.

2 months into it...
These last two months have been such an awesome opportunity (especially for me, Lindsey) to learn so much more about the building process. We have watched this house take form and honestly, at times I have no words to describe my thoughts. In fact, I really have a lot of trouble with this whole blog thing. Always unsure what to say. Usually the only thing that comes to mind is, Wow! We are so blessed!

So much hard work was put into our home this week. The trim around the windows and doors (except top front windows) has been hung.  The siding is finished and ready to paint on two sides and the rest will be finished up this week. The porches and overhangs have been primed and painted. And you will see in the pictures, they finished our brick arch inside the house... which is soooo neat!

Also, with the hard work of my awesome husband and our dear friend, Chris Lamar, the privacy  fence on the back side of the property is done. And I must say, it looks pretty dang good! So proud.

So check out our pics from this week. And thanks for checking in with us :)

Nope, not snow or blowing sand, over spray from painting the porch. really ready for those windows to go in.

Back Elevation siding up and almost ready for paint.

Last minute idea for canopy, really turned out great.

Counting our blessings.

These last two weeks have been absolutely AMAZING. It has been such an exciting experience watching all the "little" things come together to make this house so beautiful. The porch roof completely transformed the house. I can't wait until the days of sitting out on the front porch drinking sweet tea and feeling the cool gulf breeze. aaahhhh And as you will see, the fireplace is done - perfect! minus the mantel of course. And even though we only have a short time of cold weather here, can't wait to curl up with a blanket and camp out on the couch next to the fire, listening to the fire crackle and smelling  that wood burning that brings back so many memories of childhood.

I just want to say again, thank you so much to all our friends and family who have been so supportive and share in our excitement as we watch our dream unfold. We feel truly blessed and so grateful to have this opportunity.
On that same note... While we are building our home,  we realize that so many people have recently lost their homes- due to the tornadoes in the south, the fires in Texas, and the Mississippi River flood that is still damaging so many homes. We pray for those families who have lost their homes and for some even their loved ones. We cannot even imagine what their thoughts and fears may be during such a difficult time. We pray that they may trust in the Lord. And may we be grateful for each of our blessings and never forget that God is in control.

Playing catch up.

So... yes, it has been way too long since my last post. Things have been crazy busy around here... AND my camera was M.I.A. (it was at my parents) for a little bit so I didn't have my pictures. So we have a lot of catching up to do!

Things have been going really great out at the house. It is pretty much "roughed in" minus windows and doors. Over the last few weeks, the framing was completed on the top and bottom floors. Plywood walls were put up. Then the roof went on... and WOW what a huge difference that made. It is looking so much like a house now!! They got the stairs in, so no more climbing up ladders. We made a lot of decisions as far as the final layout of the walls and doors. We also decided that on the 2nd floor, rather than waste ceiling space, we vaulted all of the ceilings. It really opens it up and is absolutely beautiful! So excited to share a lot of pictures this 'go round'.

We have also been working on framing the garage. It is sure to be a great space... especially for my darling husband! Plenty of "work space".

HUGE thanks to my daddy, Jeff -Master Electrician- who came down about 2 weeks ago to get our house all wired up. So awesome! And with the amazing help of Matt and his dad, Ned, they finished in just 2 days! Thanks guys!! Also, thanks to our moms, Judy & Debbie for all the help sweeping and cleaning up!

Take a look at some of the pictures below... I am keeping some from this week still in hiding for another post later this week! :)
